

Building First-Time Managers
Background
The company a leader in the education sector, recognized the need to strengthen its first-line management as several high-performing team members transitioned into people leadership roles. The organization aimed to equip these emerging managers with the mindset and skills to lead with empathy, clarity, and accountability.
Objective – Build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and leadership capability among first-time managers, enabling them to effectively lead teams and drive performance.
Scope of the Intervention – Designed and facilitated a five-month leadership journey to:
• Understand self and others.
• Develop emotional intelligence and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Enhance capability to hire right and build strong teams.
• Drive accountability through goal setting, KRAs, KPIs, and feedforward practices.
• Build trust and authentic team relationships.
• Adapt different leadership styles to suit the needs of the teams.
Outcome:
The program enabled first-time managers to transition into confident, emotionally intelligent leaders. Participants demonstrated improved team engagement, stronger feedback practices, and greater ownership in achieving organizational goals.
Total participants: 20
- The program comprised of one full day session every month on one topic.
- Assignments were given to the participants and they were required to complete the assignment in 15 days’ time and send it back to us.
- The assignments were checked and feedback in form of scores were given to the management and the participants enabling them to improve.
